The Role
As our Sous Chef, you'll work side-by-side with the Executive Chef to oversee daily kitchen operations and ensure consistent, high-quality dishes. You'll help lead and inspire a talented culinary team, maintain kitchen standards, and contribute to seasonal menu development.You'll also take part in maintaining appositive and collaborative atmosphere within the housekeeping team, supporting one another to deliver the high standards The Carpenter Hotel is known for.
Key Responsibilities:
• Act as senior leadership by developing and assuming key management responsibilities
- Assume the role of liaison between all dining room operations and culinary staff
- Supervise the preparation and cooking of various food items
- Develop and implement creative menu items within the restaurant and events arenas
- Plan, coordinate & implement special events and holiday functions
- Manage hourly kitchen employees through scheduling, payroll, training, coaching, mentoring, evaluating and hiring
- Manage other key culinary leadership rolls including supervisor, and Stewarding
- Lead and coach the team towards achieving exceptional guest service and employee satisfaction results
- Monitor food production, ordering, cost, and quality and consistency on a daily basis
- Participate in marketing events directly related to their specific restaurant
Based upon fluctuating demands of the operation and to exceed customer expectations, it may be necessary to perform a multitude of different functions not specifically related to this position. This person may be expected to perform other tasks and duties as needed or as directed. Furthermore, employee responsibilities and job descriptions are subject to review and revision.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
• A minimum of 3 years in a high-volume restaurant kitchen preferred
• A minimum of 3 years management or supervisory experience preferred
• In-depth skills and knowledge of all kitchen operations and equipment
• Possess strong leadership, communication, organization and relationship skills
• Experience with training, basic financial management and customer service
• Proficient in general computer knowledge
• A true desire to exceed guest expectations in a fast-paced customer service environment
• Capable of producing a consistent product in a timely manner
• Strong training and communication skills
• Culinary degree or certification preferred
• Flexible schedule (AM/PM, weekends, holidays)
