We are currently partnering with a prominent international fund specializing in high-end luxury resorts and hotels. The fund seeks a seasoned Chief Legal Officer to design and implement a legal strategy that not only protects the group but actively supports and accelerates business growth, ensuring regulatory compliance, robust corporate & financial structures, effective legal risk management, and decision-making grounded in best-in-class governance, ethical principles, and sustainability standards. The position is based in Mexico City, Mexico. What the job involves
- Define and execute the group's legal strategy, ensuring strong corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and alignment with business objectives
- Serve as a trusted strategic advisor to the CEO and Board, enabling informed, timely decision-making at the highest level
- Protect the organization from material legal contingencies, proactively identifying, mitigating, and managing legal and regulatory risks without slowing the business.
- Design and safeguard robust, efficient, and auditable corporate and financial structures, including M&A, capital markets, and complex corporate transactions
- Actively participate in IPOs and/or public/private financing structures
- Oversee legal risk management and litigation strategy, effectively managing external counsel while controlling exposure and costs
- Elevate the organization's standards for compliance, ethics, corporate governance, and ESG, embedding best practices across the Group
- Lead and develop a high-performing, business-oriented legal team that is closely aligned with operational needs
- Optimize legal expenses and external counsel management, improving efficiency, quality, and value delivery
- Supervise legal aspects of strategic assets and real estate portfolios, including due diligence, acquisitions, and long-term asset protection
- Strategic business-oriented attorney, able to directly connect legal frameworks with the company's long-term vision and growth strategy
- Solid knowledge and experience in the real estate sector, particularly the hospitality segment
- Sound executive judgment, capable of making high-stakes decisions in complex, ambiguous, and high-risk environments
- Long-term and anticipatory mindset, proactively identifying future legal, regulatory, and structural impacts on the business
- Deep expertise in corporate, financial, and corporate governance law, including complex transactions and group structures
- Proven experience in structuring complex public/private financings and trusts, including sophisticated legal and financial instruments
- Experience with IPOs
- Advanced legal risk management capabilities, with a track record of maintaining minimal or no material legal contingencies
- Exceptional ability to translate complex legal matters into clear business language, enabling effective executive and Board-level decision-making
- Highly credible, ethical, and principled leader, setting the standard for integrity, compliance, and professional conduct
- Influential leader, able to align stakeholders and drive outcomes across the organization
- Advanced contract negotiation skills, particularly in high-value, complex agreements
- Solid leadership capabilities in developing talent, building a resilient, autonomous, and business-aligned team
- Exceptional analytical capabilities combined with executive-level attention to detail, balancing precision with speed and pragmatism
- Resilient under pressure, able to perform consistently in demanding, fast-paced environments
- Advanced English proficiency, enabling effective work in international and cross-border settings
